Family Christmas Card Sketch

The Request

This requester had used an AI generator to try and make a colored sketch style Christmas card. As is often the case, they received an image that just didn’t look like them, and in this case, was significantly disfigured, with the father’s legs cut off at the knees. I suggested we start from scratch and they sent me some photos to work with.

The Results

The family photo they wanted to use was a great pose and location, but the requester was not happy with their faces and wanted them all changed. The pictures you see here are the ones that we ended up choosing, but I actually made this second set when they were not happy with the first faces they chose. The original set of photos for the parents were selfies, which weren’t taken at the best angle. The second set was lovely, however!

Finished Versions

For this project I started with a grayscale sketch made with a combination of filters and plugins in Photoshop, and then colorized it near the end. I provided two different styles of colorization.
