This is an edit that could be done by hand, but would take so much time that the average person would not be able to afford it, and is a great example of how aritifical intelligence is helping to make things like this possible for the general public.

It is also an excellent example of why not everyone in the general public can just use AI themselves to do the editing. When I used AI, it did a great job of repositioning the woman, but completely changed her face. If you try enough times, you might get lucky, but it is easier when you have the skill in photoshop to manually add the real face back in.

Below you can see a before/after slider of what AI made the grandmother’s face look like, vs. the real face added back in. AI has a tendency to try and “fix” what it sees as imperfections. In this case, it decided the woman needed to smile. But unless a client asks for such a change, it is best never to alter the face, because you have no way of knowing if it actually still looks like their loved one. Perhaps she normally smiles with teeth, or has a crooked smile, how are you to know? Small things like that can make all the difference. In this case, however, it also completely changed the shape of her eyes and nose! While at first glance, a stranger might think they look similar, the person’s friends and family are sure to notice the difference!
