Posthumous Photo with Grandparents

The Request

I know this might be a long shot but I also know I’ve seen y’all do some magic stuff.. tomorrow marks 6 years since my best friend (my grandma) passed away and it’ll be 14 years since my poppie passed away. I was wondering if someone could take these photos of us and make a photo of the three of us together with my arms around them. Itd be cool if the photo could have them aged a bit to what they’d maybe look like now. They were super young when they both passed, grandma was 64 she would be 71 he was 62 and would be 77. They both meant the entire world to me and it has been so incredibly hard since losing them. I included two photos of myself because I would like to have my curly hair in the photo as that’s an important part of who I am.

NOTE: Requester provided me with multiple images to choose from, but I am only including the ones I used for the compilation.

The Results

Because her grandfather had passed many years before, images of him were limited and poor quality. When dealing with images like this, I don’t like to jump straight into the compilation. Instead, I create a separate photo of the individual, and have the requester verify accuracy of the facial features. Then I use that image as my reference when creating the compilation. Even though the grandmother’s photo was relatively high quality, I did one for her as well, so that these separate portraits could also be provided to the client as a bonus!

The Final Version

The trickiest part of this job was that the images of both grandmom and grandad were both facing the same direction, and the OP wanted them on either side of her. This means having to rely on AI to turn the person, rather than being able to use the original face. It took several tries, but I finally came up with something that looked right to the client.

This is one reason I prefer to work one-on-one with someone who wants a complex edit like this. It allows for some back-and-forth as I work on the image, to ensure every detail is to the client’s liking.
